Event Description

In addition to this seminar, Mark Summers will be giving a lecture on February 4 entitled “Dead Man Walking: The Not-So-Strange Stillbirth of Radical Reconstruction, 1868″. For more information on this seminar, please visit the event page.

Mark Summers will be leading a seminar on the impeachment of President Andrew Johnson in 1868. This will give you an opportunity to discuss some readings with one of the country’s leading experts on the period and with up to twenty others.  The seminar will be on Saturday, February 6, from 10:30 a.m. to12:30 p.m., with a pizza lunch delivered at the conclusion.

Registration for the seminar is free and open to the public. However, because capacity is limited, advance enrollment is necessary. This will be done primarily on a first come, first served basis. Readings will be distributed in advance to participants, who will be expected to read them and participate actively in the discussion. A pizza lunch will be delivered at the end of the seminar. To enroll, please e-mail Professor Daniel Lowenstein at lowenstein@law.ucla.edu
