Michael Allen is a Distinguished Professor at the University of California, Los Angeles. Professor Allen’s teaching focus is the range of English literature from the Anglo-Saxons to Milton, and especially Chaucer and Shakespeare. His research focuses on the philosophical, theological, magical, and mythological issues explored by the fifteenth century Italian Platonists Marsilio Ficino and Pico della Mirandola. Professor Allen is also an adjunct member of UCLA’s Department of Italian. Most recently, Professor Allen was the recipient of the Renaissance Society of America’s Paul Oskar Kristeller Lifetime Achievement Award in 2015.
